An object fired horizontally and an object dropped from the same height will hit the ground at the same time, because the horizontal and vertical motions are independent.

Split into x- and y- columns.

ax = 0, ay = -10 m/s2

If fired horizontally, voy = 0. If fired at an angle, split into v0x and v0y using sin and cos.

Voy at top = 0.

Velocity is tangent to the trajectory. Acceleration is always downward.

An angle of 45° results in the greatest horizontal distance.
